Perfume Bench supports learning and record keeping. A calculation or reference description does not establish that a mixture is safe to handle, apply to skin or sell.

Untested educational studies
The starter accords are paper exercises, not bench-tested perfume recipes. We have not evaluated their odor performance, stability, packaging compatibility or finished-product safety. Examples, pairings and suggested comparisons are learning prompts.
Descriptions in the material library draw on the linked references. We do not claim that we personally smelled or laboratory-tested each listed product. The project’s software checks are separate from practical perfumery and safety assessments.
Material identity and handling
Before practical work, consult the safety data sheet and current handling instructions for the exact supplier product. A general name or CAS reference does not specify every supplier grade, mixture, impurity, solvent or dilution. Similar names and scent descriptions are not grounds for substituting one material for another.
Follow product-specific instructions for storage, ventilation, protective equipment, incompatibilities and disposal. This site does not assess your workspace or replace those instructions. We do not recommend testing unassessed mixtures on skin.
What the calculators establish
The tools calculate from values you provide. Stock strength is a declared mass percentage, not a measurement of a bottle’s purity. Dilution arithmetic cannot establish solubility or compatibility. Batch-loss and cost results depend on your assumptions and do not predict every practical loss or expense.
The ingredient-limit calculator adds declared contributions and compares them with a limit you enter. It does not maintain a current regulatory database, identify all restricted constituents, select the correct product category or issue an IFRA certificate. A result below your entered limit is only that arithmetic comparison.
IFRA explains that even a Certificate of Conformity to its Standards does not replace a safety assessment. See IFRA’s explanation of certification.
Finished products and commercial use
Requirements depend on the intended product, use and market. Obtain appropriate professional advice and product-specific assessments before making safety claims or supplying a finished product. Perfume Bench does not approve products for sale or certify labels, allergen disclosures or manufacturing practices.
Report a problem
If a calculation appears wrong or a source conflicts with a profile, pause reliance on that result and send us the page URL and a reproducible example or source. Do not send confidential formulas when a smaller example will explain the issue. Our editorial policy describes our checks and correction process.
