Original, untested educational sketch for documented blotter studies. Percentages describe the relative masses of the named undiluted aromatic materials, not a ready-to-wear perfume. No finished-product safety, stability or IFRA conformity assessment has been performed. Account for stock solvents if substituting diluted materials and follow supplier handling guidance.
STUDY OBJECTIVE
Study whether a small change in ionone beta redirects the identity of a simple floral-musk blend.
Formula proportions
These are undiluted aromatic parts totalling 100. The builder initially assumes neat materials (100% stock strength). To preserve these aromatic ratios with diluted stocks, divide each material’s parts by its stock fraction before scaling: 10 neat parts at 10% strength require 100 stock parts. Changing only the stock-strength field changes the aromatic ratio; it does not adjust the amount weighed.
| Material | Relative parts |
|---|---|
| Methyl dihydrojasmonate | 65 |
| Ethylene brassylate | 25 |
| Ionone beta | 10 |
| Total | 100 |
Study method
- Evaluate the three materials separately; record uncertainty if a material seems faint.
- Enter the undiluted aromatic percentages and identify all actual supplier grades.
- Make a documented trial after calculating stock and solvent contributions.
- Compare with 70:25:5, shifting five percentage points from ionone beta to methyl dihydrojasmonate.
- Keep the strips separated and return for a later recorded comparison.
What to evaluate
- When is the violet or berry association most noticeable?
- Does the comparison change the identity or mainly the prominence of one facet?
- What remains on each strip at the final observation?
Record this trial
Keep a separate journal entry for each revision, dilution, and study date.
